Ok, first off, my pictures got out of order. The one on the top right is supposed to be last. Oh well. Either way. When we went to Lincoln City in June, there was a cool glass blowing shop in town. Mom got to make a bowl, which is what I would have wanted to do. She made it for her bonus room and it turned out beautiful!! First they took a big blob (for lack of a better word) of glass from a furnace thing... yes, I am technical! They kept heating it up and adding more glass. Finally, it was time to add the colors, white and red. That blob just got rolled in the colors to coat it, and then it went back into the furnace. They (to define "they"... that would be Mom and the guy from the shop helping) kept spinning it and in one of the pictures on the left, Mom is mixing the colors around as it spins. Then again at the top, it was time to actually blow the glass. There was a hose attached to the pole the glass was on. It was neat to watch the glass get bigger as Mom would blow in the hose. Finally it was time to shape the bowl. The last picture is of the bowl at the shop, just after it was taken off of the pole. It was fun to watch the process. Someday I need to make me a bowl!
